The Art of Self Love (You are enough!)

The Art of Self Love (You are enough!)

Valentine’s Day brings a special remembrance of loved ones in our life and the need for self love. You may have seen my facebook live videos lately about The Art of Self Love.  I have offered several workshops in February about what self love really looks like when we have a healthy relationship with ourself and how we show up each day.  The last community workshop on this topic for this year is this Sunday, 7:15-8:45 PM at Bella Vida Yoga and includes Restorative Yoga, Guided Meditation and Visualization, and optional Group Circle and Self Reflection.

What does the Art of Self Love really mean?

Let me ask you something.  Are you the kind of woman who shows up most days with the intention to do her best?  We schedule and coordinate kid and family activities. We strive to make healthy meals. We work in some capacity, whether its volunteer, charity, part or full time, or running a business.  We do the best we can each day and somewhere deep down inside we know we are suppose to believe that is enough, but maybe we feel tired at the end of the day and wonder if it is enough.    If you can relate,  then you already know the importance of including acts of self love throughout the day, week, or month. Acts of self love can include a massage, lunch with a good friend, yoga, facial, running, walking, time in nature, dance, reading, or whatever way you take time for yourself. You know this is something you should do in order to have balance, and hopefully you are doing something at least each week. We all know that when the woman of the house is happy, so is everyone else (even the pets).  Am I right?

We are the center of life.  We create life.  It’s just that simple.

Whether or not we take part in acts of self love, the real Art of Self Love is in having a healthy relationship with self love. Why? Because healthy relationships create healthy habits.  Think about this for a moment.  Do you notice ways in the world around you where unhealthy relationships with people, food, addiction or others create unhealthy habits? Either for you or someone you know?  So we know that acts of self love are valuable and priceless, but what we what we can easily forget is our connection to a healthy self. We can connect by asking “How do we feel about how we live each day?”

So here is the raw truth.  If you are still feeling overwhelmed, overtired,it’s never enough,  or stressed at the end of the day, I invite you to really notice how that shows up for you.  Does it turn into excuses, sadness, guilt, or some other emotion?  Does that emotion transmute in any other way in your life? Through your relationships with loved ones, workout routine (excessive or not at all), broken promises, or your food habits?  Honestly, ask yourself this question. We can take part in acts of self love, but if we do not have a connection to our healthy self, then it shows up as unhealthy habits.

Overwhelm and stress are not about the number of tasks we fill our day with.  It’s about how we feel about what we accomplish in the day, and the expectation that we have for all the things we want to get done.  Two different people can schedule the same 5 activities in one day and feel very different at the end of the day.  One may be energized, and the other overtired. Which one are you??  I am writing a new e-book on this and will be available on my website next week, and its gift.

Healthy Relationships create Healthy Habits

That takes me to the second part of self love which is self compassion.  However it is that you show up today or tomorrow, know that it is enough because you are enough.  It is always enough. Just “being” IS enough.

It’s who we are not what we do that changes the world.

Breathe that in for a moment.  How does that make you feel when you hear that?  The truth is that something greater then you, universal love, God, Grace, the creator, loved you enough to create you so that you could share your the gift of being you with the world.  When we are in alignment, who we are and what we do become the the same.

Take some reflection time today, maybe a guided meditation, to ask yourself, what do you need in life right now?  I invite you to connect with that feeling and love that is so easy to give to our loved ones. That love and compassion you have for the world is a part of you.  This means it is within you and it is you.   Can you turn that love and compassion for the world towards yourself and receive it? It is you, exactly as you are, just waiting to be received.

I am in a creative flow of receiving love to share with you which is showing up as e-books, workshops and more.  I invite you to join in our complimentary online community workshops each month or maybe at The Art of Self Love workshop this Sunday at Bella Vida Yoga! If you are looking to receive some self love, we would love for you to join us during our workshop this Sunday. Click here to sign up, we still have spots left.

Remember, You are loved, loving and lovable!
